SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 100 - Work, Labor and Employment
MARYLAND CONSERVATION CORPS
(A) IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.
(B) "CORPS" MEANS THE MARYLAND CONSERVATION CORPS.
(C) "DEPARTMENT" MEANS THE DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND
TRAINING.
(D) "DIRECTOR" MEANS THE DIRECTOR OF THE MARYLAND
CONSERVATION CORPS.
(E) "SECRETARY" MEANS THE SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING.
(F) "YOUTH" MEANS A MARYLAND RESIDENT BETWEEN THE AGES OF
16 AND 21.

(A) THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FINDS THAT EMPLOYING MARYLAND'S
YOUTH TO CONSERVE OR DEVELOP NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENHANCE AND
MAINTAIN ENVIRONMENTALLY IMPORTANT LANDS AND WATERS IS:
(1) BENEFICIAL TO THE YOUTH OF THE STATE BECAUSE IT
PROVIDES THEM WITH EDUCATIONAL AND WORK OPPORTUNITIES; AND
