Ch. 506

(2) [and the] THE County Commissioners shall give all
reasonable and fair consideration to the nominations submitted
but are not required to choose from names submitted for the
public at large positions on the Commission. [The Commission
when it deems necessary for the successful operation of its
program shall determine what other categoric interests should be
represented on the Commission, and shall ask the County
Commissioners to select a person to represent the said categoric
interest by following the procedure as outlined in this section
and provided that no more] MORE than the maximum number of
members as set forth in this section [shall] MAY NOT be appointed
to the Commission.

8-34.

(A)  (1) [Of the members first appointed to the Commission
for terms of two years the terms of at least one-third of the
members shall be extended for one additional year; the terms of
at least one-third of the members shall be extended for an
additional two years; and the terms of at least one-third of the
members shall be extended for an additional three years.
Thereafter all terms shall be for three years.] THE TERM OF A
MEMBER IS 3 YEARS.

(2) [Any] A member of the Commission [shall be] IS
NOT eligible for [not] more than two full terms in succession.

(B)   [They] EACH MEMBER shall serve without compensation,
but shall be reimbursed for necessary travel and other expenses
incurred in the performance of their duties.

(C)  (1) The Commission shall select from its own membership
a chairman, vice-chairman, and a secretary-treasurer to serve a
term of one year [and to be].

(2) THE CHAIRMAN, VICE-CHAIRMAN, AND
SECRETARY-TREASURER ARE eligible for re-election [provided that
no]. HOWEVER, one person [shall] MAY NOT hold the position of
chairman for more than [three] 3 consecutive years.

(D)  Upon the death, disability, resignation, or removal of
any member of the Commission, the County Commissioners shall
appoint a person representing the same categoric interest to
serve for the unexpired term.

(E)  The RESIDENT State Senator for Washington County and
the President of the Board of County Commissioners shall serve as
ex-officio members of the Economic Development Commission without
the power to vote.

[The Commission has the power to establish and appoint
advisory groups and committees to assist in its program of
activity of which membership is not restricted solely to members
of the Commission.]
