(4) UNDERTAKE other [matters] ACTIVITIES   intended    to

foster and develop gainful employment and the     [pursuit    of

happiness] QUALITY OF LIFE of all who are now or may  hereafter  be
residents of Washington County.

8-33.

(A) (1) The Commission [shall consist of not less than
eleven nor more than fifteen] CONSIST OF AT LEAST 14 BUT NOT MORE
THAN 15 members, who shall be appointed by the Board of County
Commissioners.

(2) The members shall represent a cross-section of
the economic composition of Washington County and shall be
selected because of their known experience and interest in the
development of Washington County. [Those organizations
representing the same categoric interest shall jointly send to
the County Commissioners a list of not less than two nor more
than three names of persons duly qualified and interested in
serving on the Commission.]

(B) (1) There shall be on the Commission one member chosen
from each of the following categories: Agriculture, Banking,
[Contracting] CONSTRUCTION, HEALTH, Labor, Manufacturing, Real
Estate, Retailing, Transportation, [Travel and Tourist], TOURISM,
UTILITIES, WHOLESALE and two from the public at large.

(2) (I) THE COMMISSION MAY ESTABLISH ADDITIONAL
CATEGORIC INTERESTS FOR REPRESENTATION ON THE COMMISSION.

(II) MEMBERS MAY BE NOMINATED TO THE COMMISSION
IN THE ADDITIONAL CATEGORIES IN THE MANNER ESTABLISHED FOR
DESIGNATED CATEGORIES.

(C) (1) THE COMMISSION SHALL ESTABLISH A NOMINATING
COMMITTEE TO FILL VACANCIES ON THE COMMISSION.

(2)  THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE SHALL FORWARD TO THE
COMMISSION THE NAMES OF AT LEAST 2 NOMINEES TO FILL A VACANCY TO
THE COMMISSION.

(3)  IF THE COMMISSION APPROVES THE QUALIFICATIONS OF
THE CANDIDATES, THE COMMISSION SHALL SUBMIT THE NAMES OF THE
NOMINEES TO THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL.

(D)  The County Commissioners [shall not] MAY select [any] A
person WHO IS [not] on a list submitted by [interested
organizations except for the two positions representing the
public at large] THE COMMISSION OR INTERESTED ORGANIZATIONS.

(E) (1) The [public at large positions on the Commission
can be made by] WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MAY APPOINT any
resident of Washington County TO A PUBLIC AT LARGE POSITION [by
submitting] WHO SUBMITS AN APPLICATION in writing to the County
Commissioners [nominations].
