CHAPTER 340

(Senate Bill 393)

AN ACT concerning

Physicians - Hospitals - Reports to Medical Discipline Commission

FOR the purpose of extending the requirement of reporting by
hospitals and related institutions to the Commission on
Medical Discipline to include certain misconduct or
voluntary resignations of certain physicians, medical
students, and individuals in postgraduate medical training
programs; providing for the applicability of certain hearing
provisions; and generally relating to certain reports made
to the Commission.

BY adding to

Article - Health Occupations
Section 14-501(h)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1981 Volume and 1983 Supplement)

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Health Occupations
Section 14-512(a)(l)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1981 Volume and 1983 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

14-501.

(H) THOSE INDIVIDUALS NOT LICENSED UNDER THIS TITLE BUT
COVERED UNDER § 14-512(A)(1)(III) AND (IV) OF THIS SUBTITLE ARE
SUBJECT TO THE HEARING PROVISIONS OF § 14-505 OF THIS SUBTITLE.

14-512.

(a) (1) Each hospital and related institution shall report
to the Commission:

(i) If the hospital or related institution
denies the application of a physician for staff privileges or
limits, reduces, or ends the staff privileges of a physician for
reasons that might be grounds for disciplinary action under §
14-504 of this subtitle; [or]
