AN ACT concerning
State Scholarship Board - False Statements
FOR the purpose of making it a crime for any person to knowingly
and willfully falsify or conceal a material fact or to make
or use any false writing or document knowing the same to
contain any false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or
entry, in connection with an application for funds from the
State Scholarship Board; requiring the State Scholarship
Board to provide certain notice; and providing for
restitution and a certain fine or imprisonment, or both.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments
151B.
(A) A PERSON WHO KNOWINGLY AND WILLFULLY FALSIFIES OR
CONCEALS A MATERIAL FACT BY ANY TRICK, SCHEME, OR DEVICE OR MAKES
OR USES ANY FALSE WRITING OR DOCUMENT KNOWING THE WRITING OR
DOCUMENT TO CONTAIN ANY FALSE, FICTITIOUS, OR FRAUDULENT
STATEMENT OR ENTRY, IN CONNECTION WITH AN APPLICATION FOR FUNDS
FROM THE STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD , IS GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR.
(B) EACH APPLICANT FOR FUNDS FROM THE STATE SCHOLARSHIP
BOARD SHALL RECEIVE NOTICE FROM THE BOARD OF THE CONDUCT THAT
CONSTITUTES A VIOLATION OF THIS SECTION PRIOR TO THE AWARDING OF
ANY STATE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD OR GRANT.
(B) (C) A PERSON CONVICTED UNDER THIS SECTION IS SUBJECT TO
MAKING COMPLETE RESTITUTION, AND A FINE OF NOT MORE. THAN $1,000
$5,000, OR IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT MORE THAN 5 YEARS 1 YEAR, OR
BOTH.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.
