9-223. CASES GIVEN PRIORITY.

ON THE REQUEST OF A PARTY TO A CUSTODY PROCEEDING THAT
RAISES A QUESTION OF EXISTENCE OR EXERCISE OF JURISDICTION UNDER
THIS SUBTITLE, THE CASE SHALL BE GIVEN CALENDAR PRIORITY AND
HANDLED EXPEDITIOUSLY.

9-224. SHORT TITLE.

THIS SUBTITLE MAY BE CITED AS THE "MARYLAND UNIFORM CHILD
CUSTODY JURISDICTION ACT".

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Article
16, § 207.

The word "Maryland" is added to the name of the act to
indicate that it is the Uniform Act of this State, and
not necessarily the Uniform Act as adopted by other
states.

The only other changes are in style.

GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE:

The Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act originally was
approved in 1968 by the National Conference of Commissioners on
Uniform State Laws and the American Bar Association. The act was
enacted in this State by Ch. 265, Acts of 1975, and became
effective on June 1, 1975 as Article 16, §§ 184 through 207 of
the Code. A total of 48 states have adopted the Uniform Child
Custody Jurisdiction Act.

Beyond reorganizing the act slightly for greater clarity,
the Commission to Revise the Annotated Code has made only a few
stylistic changes in the language of the act, in order to retain
general uniformity of construction. Those few changes that have
