(B) TERM; SUCCESSION.

(1)  THE TERM OF THE CHAIRMAN IS 2 YEARS.

(2)  AT THE END OF A TERM, THE CHAIRMAN CONTINUES TO
SERVE UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS ELECTED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the sixth sentence of
former Article 88A, § 115(b).

The seventh sentence of former Article 88A, § 115(b),
which provided that the chairman could serve for more
than 1 term consecutively as chairman, is deleted as
unnecessary.

5-538. SAME -- MEETINGS; COMPENSATION; STAFF.

(A)  MEETINGS.

THE STATE BOARD SHALL MEET AT LEAST TWICE EACH YEAR AND MORE
FREQUENTLY ON THE CALL OF THE CHAIRMAN.

(B)  COMPENSATION AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES.
A MEMBER OF THE STATE BOARD:

(1)  MAY NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION; BUT

(2)  IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES UNDER
THE STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS, AS PROVIDED IN THE STATE
BUDGET.

(C)  STAFF.

THE STATE BOARD MAY EMPLOY A STAFF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STATE BUDGET.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Article 88A, §
117, the eighth sentence of § 115(b), and the first
clause of § 118.

In subsection (b)(2) of this section, the former

phrase "incurred in carrying out their

responsibilities as members of the board" is deleted
as unnecessary.
