Ch. 289
Ch. 1075, 1945, authorized the levy of up to $100,000, in
each of the years 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, and 1950 for school
building and construction. It was repealed by ch. 10, 1948
Special Session, which authorized the levy of taxes for school
construction and the preparation of a program of school building
construction. Ch. 448, 1953, created a commission to study
educational policies in Washington County.
Joint Resolution 5, 1959, urged the Civil War Centennial
Commission to erect a monument to honor Rev. Abram Joseph Ryan,
in Hagerstown. Joint Resolution 22, 1959, repealed Joint
Resolution 23 of 1957 and requested the appointment of a
commission to arrange a centennial of the Battle of Antietam.
Joint Resolution 31, 1959, commemorated Maryland's role in the
War Between the States. Joint Resolution 37, 1959, urged the
passage of House Resolution 1805 in the Congress, affecting
Antietam Battlefield. Joint Resolution 15, 1961, suggested the
expansion of the military cemetery at Sharpsburg.
Joint Resolution 11, 1957, requested the Governor to appoint
a committee to study sub-standard housing conditions in
Washington County.
Ch. 180, 1959, adding new Section 8A to Article 89B of the
Annotated Code, related to U.S. Route 40 westerly from Hancock.
Joint Resolution 46, 1961, urged this road be included in the
Federal Interstate Highway System.
Ch. 207, 1959, authorized the Board of Alcoholic Beverage
License Commissioners to distribute certain funds.
Ch. 887, 1961, provided for the issue of State bonds for the
Washington County Jail.
Ch. 308, 1966, amending Section 3 of Article 25 of the
Annotated Code, extended the powers of the County Commissioners
of Washington County.
Joint Resolution 32, 1966, requested the Legislative
Delegation and the County Commissioners to appoint a lower court
evaluation commission for Washington County.
Ch. 779, 1941, authorized the County Commissioners to levy a
sum of money for the compilation and publication of a code of
public local laws. Ch. 31, 1957, legalized the 1957 Edition of
the local code and authorized an appropriation for its
publication.
Joint Resolution 5, 1936 Special Session, endorsed and
commended the Triple Anniversaries Observance of the settling of
Washington County, the founding of Hagerstown, and the Battle of
Antietam. Joint Resolution 6, 1937, created a committee to
represent the State of Maryland at the National Antietam
Commemoration. Joint Resolution 5, 1943, requested the Secretary
