LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 285

(i) The Commission does not abrogate the
current powers and duties of any department or secretary of any
department of this State.

(ii) The Commission consists of 10 members
appointed by the Governor. The Governor's appointments shall be
upon the recommendation of the local governing body. Of the 10
members, the following shall be ex officio members:

1.   The Secretary of Health and Mental
Hygiene or his designee;

2.  The Secretary of Natural Resources or
his designee; and

3.   The Secretary of State Planning or his
designee.

(iii) Of the 10 members, the seven appointed
members shall represent the following local governing bodies:

1.  Anne Arundel County;

2.  Calvert County;

3.   Charles County;

4.  Howard County;

5.  Montgomery County;

6.  Prince George's County; and

7.   St. Mary's County.

(iv) The term of an appointed member is 4
years. At the end of a term a member continues to serve until a
successor qualifies and is appointed. A member who is appointed
after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and
until a successor qualifies and is appointed.

(v) From among its members, the Commission
shall elect a chairman.

(6) In addition to the powers and duties set forth
elsewhere in this subtitle, the Commission has the following
powers and duties:

(i) To review annually the operation of State
and local agencies;

(ii) To provide a clearinghouse for information
on the Patuxent River Watershed;
