HARRY HUGHES, Governor

1275

Also in subsection (a) of this section, the words
"real and personal", which formerly modified
"property", and the former specific references to an
"interest" in property and to "fees", "moneys",
"assets", and "other things of value" are deleted as
surplusage.

Also in subsection (a) of this section, the former
phrase "[a]fter acquisition of the initial site" is
deleted as obsolete since the Home has been acquired.

Also in subsection (a) of this section, the former
reference "by lease, gift, purchase, devise, bequest,
or by any other means" is deleted as unnecessary in
light of the broad word "acquire" and, as to gifts and
grants, in light of subsection (b) of this section.

In subsection (b) of this section, the former
references to "legac[ies]", "bequest[s]", "devise[s]",
and "endowment[s]" are deleted as unnecessary in light
of the definition of "gift" in Art. 1, § 22 of the
Code.

In subsection (b)(2) of this section, the former
reference to "any duly constituted regular or special
meeting if a quorum is present" is deleted as
unnecessary since, absent a quorum, the Veterans' Home
Commission may not act.

The second sentence of former Art. 96 1/2, § 59, which
enabled the Veterans' Home Commission to accept
"grants, moneys, and properties" from governmental
units, is deleted as unnecessary in light of
subsection (b) of this section.

9-930. STATE FUNDS NOT OBLIGATED.

THE STATE IS NOT OBLIGATED TO PROVIDE CAPITAL OR OPERATING
FUNDS FOR THE VETERANS' HOME COMMISSION BUT MAY APPROPRIATE MONEY
FOR THE PURPOSES AND GOALS OF THE COMMISSION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first sentence of
former Art. 96 1/2, § 59.

GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE:

Former Art. 96 1/2, § 61, which transferred to the Maryland
Veterans' Home Commission the functions of the Governor's
Commission to Study the Feasibility of Establishing a Maryland
Veterans' Home, is deleted as obsolete since the Home has been
established.

Former Art. 78A, §§ 42 through 45, which provided for the
Maryland Veterans Housing Commission, are deleted as obsolete.
