TO OBTAIN A PLOT IN A STATE VETERANS' CEMETERY, AN APPLICANT
SHALL SUBMIT TO THE COMMISSION AN APPLICATION ON THE FORM THAT
THE COMMISSION PROVIDES.

(H) BURIAL.

IN A PLOT THAT IS ALLOTTED TO A VETERAN, THE COMMISSION
SHALL BURY:

(1)  THE VETERAN; AND

(2)  ANY MEMBER OF THE IMMEDIATE FAMILY OF THE VETERAN
IF THE FAMILY MEMBER CAN BE BURIED IN A SPACE ABOVE OR BELOW THE
VETERAN.

(I) FEES.

(1)  THE COMMISSION SHALL BURY THE VETERAN WITHOUT
CHARGE.

(2)  FOR BURIAL OF A MEMBER OF THE IMMEDIATE FAMILY,
THE COMMISSION MAY:

(I)  SET A FEE THAT DOES NOT EXCEED THE COST OF

(II)  ACCEPT, FROM THE SOCIAL SECURITY BURIAL
ALLOWANCE, AN AMOUNT THAT DOES NOT EXCEED THE COST OF THE BURIAL.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language added to avoid repetition of the former
phrases such as "veterans' cemeteries established
under this section".

Subsections (b) through (i) of this section are new
language derived without substantive change from
former Art. 96 1/2, § 19(a), (c) through (f), and the
first clause of the first sentence of (b).

In subsections (b), (f)(1), and (i)(2) of this
section, the references to "immediate families" and
"member of the immediate family" are substituted for
the former terms "next of kin" and "family members",
to conform to subsection (h)(2) of this section.

Subsection (b) of this section is revised to clarify
that the Commission establishes the State veterans'
cemeteries.

In subsection (c)(2) of this section, the word "near"
is substituted for the former reference "are adjacent
to or have proximity to", for brevity.
