LAWS OF MARYLAND
Ch. 284
(c)(4) of this section applies, see the General
Revisor's Note to this article.
Subsection (a)(l)(i) of this section is revised to
make the Chairman of the Maryland Veterans' Home
Commission an "ex officio member". Although the third
clause of the second sentence of former Art. 96 1/2, §
3(a) referred to "a person who is currently the
chairman" and could be read to mean the individual who
was chairman when Ch. 4, Acts of 1980, amended former
§ 3(a), this reading could leave a gap in the
membership.
In subsection (a)(2)(iii) of this section, the
reference to the Governor making appointments from
lists submitted by the specified organizations is
added for clarity and to reflect actual practice.
In subsection (a)(2)(iii)10. of this section, the word
"Military" is added to use the correct name of the
organization.
In subsection (b) of this section, the reference to "a
resident of the State and a veteran" is substituted
for the former ambiguous reference to a "Maryland
veteran". This substitution is based on the practice
that Commission members are residents at the time of
appointment.
The fifth sentence of former Art. 96 1/2, § 3(a),
which permitted members to be reappointed, is deleted
as unnecessary since, absent language to the contrary,
members may be reappointed.
Defined terms: "Commission" § 9-904
"Veteran" § 9-901
9-908. CHAIRMAN.
FROM AMONG THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION, THE GOVERNOR SHALL
APPOINT A CHAIRMAN.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the second clause of
the first sentence of former Art. 96 1/2, § 3(a).
As to the ex officio membership of the chairman of
this Commission on the Maryland Veterans' Home
Commission, see § 9-921 of this subtitle.
Defined term: "Commission" § 9-904
9-909. MEETINGS; COMPENSATION; STAFF.
(A) MEETINGS.
