LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 284

(D) OTHER SERVICES.

THE SECRETARY OF GENERAL SERVICES MAY:

(1)  PROVIDE THE COMMUNICATION SERVICES THAT THE
GOVERNOR-ELECT FINDS NECESSARY;

(2)  AUTHORIZE PAYMENT FOR NECESSARY PRINTING AND
BINDING; AND

(3)  PROVIDE FOR THE CONVEYANCE OF MAIL THAT THE
GOVERNOR-ELECT SENDS IN CONNECTION WITH PREPARING TO ASSUME THE
DUTIES OF OFFICE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 41, §
15G(b) and (a)(1), (3) through (7), and, as they
related to compensation of staff, the first sentence
and the first clause of the second sentence of (2).

In subsection (a)(2) of this section, the words "for
the office of Governor" are added to modify "general
election", since there are general elections in which
gubernatorial candidates are not elected.

Also in subsection (a)(2) of this section, the former
phrase "under this subtitle" is deleted as unnecessary
in light of the revision of subsection (a)(2) of this
section as a limitation on subsection (a)(1) of this
section. Also, the former word "subtitle" was
misleading, to the extent that it suggested that the
Secretary of General Services pays for services that
are provided under other sections of this subtitle.

In subsection (b) of this section, the former specific
references to "furniture" and to "office machines, and
equipment" are deleted as unnecessary in light of the
broad word "furnishings".

In subsection (c)(1) of this section, the former
reference to expenses "for the procurement of"
services is deleted as misleading since the former
reference suggested that the services of consultants
were not covered after the consultant was retained.

Also in subsection (c)(1) of this section, the former
reference to "experts" is deleted as unnecessary in
light of the broad word "consultants".

Also in subsection (c)(1) of this section, the former
reference to "organizations" of experts and
consultants is deleted as unnecessary in light of Art.
1, § 8 of the Code, which provides that the singular
and plural are interchangeable.
