LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 284

(III)  A LIST OF HOUSE BILLS; AND

(IV)  A LIST OF HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTIONS; AND

(2) KEEP EACH LIST AND COPIES OF EACH BILL ON THE
LISTS AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC.

(F) FILING FOR INTRODUCTION.

(1)  ON THE 1ST DAY OF EACH REGULAR SESSION, THE
DEPARTMENT OF LEGISLATIVE REFERENCE SHALL SEND TO THE SECRETARY
OF THE SENATE AND THE CHIEF CLERK OF THE HOUSE, AS APPROPRIATE:

(I)  THE LISTS OF BILLS THAT HAVE BEEN PREFILED
FOR INTRODUCTION IN THE SENATE OR THE HOUSE; AND

(II)  COPIES OF EACH BILL, IN THE FORM THAT THE
SENATE RULES SET FOR INTRODUCTION IN THE SENATE OR THAT THE HOUSE
RULES SET FOR INTRODUCTION IN THE HOUSE."

(2)  EACH BILL THAT IS SENT UNDER THIS SUBSECTION
SHALL BE CONSIDERED AS FILED FOR INTRODUCTION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language added to avoid repetition, while also
avoiding the inconsistency in former Art. 40, §
43(a). Under the first sentence of former Art. 40, §
43(a), a member was authorized to "request the
introduction ... by prefiling", yet the fourth
sentence of § 43(a) stated that the request was
"authority for the Department to prefile".
Furthermore, in former Art. 40, § 43(a), the word
"request" was used as to filing bills but in § 43(e),
the word was used as to preparing bills. In light of
the addition of subsection (a) of this section and the
statement, in subsection (f)(2) of this section, as to
the effect of sending the bills, the fourth sentence
of former Art. 40, § 43(a) is deleted as unnecessary.

Subsections (b) through (f) of this section are new
language derived without substantive change from
former Art. 40, § 43(c) through (e), the first through
third sentences of (a), and the first and second
sentences of (b).

In subsection (b) of this section, the reference to a
"member-elect" is added to reflect that a member-elect
has the authority to prefile bills, under subsection
(c) of this section.

In subsection (c) of this section,      the former,

specific reference to "five days" after     the election

is deleted as unnecessary in light of subsection
(d)(1) of this section.
