GUIDELINES.

THE LEGISLATIVE POLICY COMMITTEE SHALL ADOPT GUIDELINES THAT
ARE NOT INCONSISTENT WITH LAW AND THAT, FOR PROFESSIONAL AND
NONPROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES OF THE DEPARTMENT, GOVERN HIRING,
TENURE, PROMOTION, GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES, AND POLITICAL ACTIVITY.

(D) POLITICAL ACTIVITY.

THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 33, §§ 28-1 AND 28-2 OF THE CODE
DO NOT APPLY TO AN EMPLOYEE OF THE DEPARTMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is standard
language added for clarity. In light of this
addition, the provisions of former Art. 40, § 52(a)
that related to compensation of staff are deleted as
unnecessary.

Subsections (b) through (d) of this section are new
language derived without substantive change from
former Art. 40, § 52(b) through (d).

As to subsection (b) of this section, note that
Section 2 of Ch. 818, Acts of 1982, enabled
individuals who held a classified position as of June
1, 1982, to retain that position.

As to subsection (c) of this section, Section 3 of Ch.
818, Acts of 1982, provided that, until the guidelines
were adopted, a removal of an unclassified employee
was to be reviewed by the President and the Speaker.
The guidelines were adopted on June 28, 1983, to be
affective on July 1, 1983.

COMMITTEE, ANY JOINT LEGISLATIVE AND EXECUTIVE BODY THAT THE
GOVERNOR APPOINTS.
