LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 284

UNITS IN THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT SHALL
COOPERATE WITH THE COMMITTEE AND PROVIDE INFORMATION TO THE
COMMITTEE AND ITS STAFF AS REQUESTED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Art. 40,
§ 114.

In subsection (a) of this section, the requirement to
"provide staff services" is substituted for the former
requirement that the Department "serve as staff", to
conform to similar provisions elsewhere in this
article.

In subsection (b) of this section, the reference to
the "Executive Branch of the State government" is
substituted for the former, ambiguous reference to the
"Executive Department", which, in the Maryland
Constitution, is used as a synonym for the "Executive
Branch" but, in some statutes, is used as a limited
reference to units not otherwise assigned to a
principal department in that Branch.

The only other changes are in style.

As to the general availability of the staff and
facilities of the Department of Fiscal Services for
legislative committees, see § 2-1208 of this title.

Defined term: "Committee" § 2-1001

2-1008. FISCAL SERVICES.

ON OR BEFORE JUNE 1 OF EACH YEAR, THE DEPARTMENT OF FISCAL
SERVICES SHALL REPORT TO THE LEGISLATIVE POLICY COMMITTEE THE
EXTENT TO WHICH THE STATE BUDGET AS ENACTED BY THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY CONFORMED TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SPENDING
AFFORDABILITY COMMITTEE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Art. 40,
§ 115.

The words "[o]n or before" are substituted for the
former, ambiguous word "[b]y", for clarity.

The only other changes are in style.

2-1009. PROGRAM EVALUATION.

ON OR BEFORE JUNE 1 OF EACH YEAR, THE LEGISLATIVE POLICY
COMMITTEE SHALL SELECT UNITS OR PROGRAMS THAT THE LEGISLATIVE
POLICY COMMITTEE BELIEVES SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO LEGISLATIVE REVIEW
AND ASSIGN THE SELECTED UNITS AND PROGRAMS TO AN APPROPRIATE
COMMITTEE FOR REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATIONS DURING THAT LEGISLATIVE
INTERIM.
