AN ACT concerning
Public Safety - National Capital Region Mutual Aid Agreements
FOR the purpose of authorizing the State, certain governing bodies of counties and
municipal corporations, and certain other governmental agencies within the
National Capital Region to enter into certain mutual aid agreements in
accordance with certain provisions of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism
Prevention Act of 2004; providing that certain statutes, laws, and ordinances are
inapplicable to an agreement authorized by and entered into under this Act;
defining certain terms; and generally relating to mutual aid agreements for
public safety.

Section 14-8A-01 through 14-8A-03, inclusive, to be under the new subtitle

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Public Safety
SUBTITLE 8A. NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION MUTUAL AID AGREEMENTS.
14-8A-01.
(A) IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.
(B) "GOVERNING BODY" MEANS:
(1) THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE AND COUNTY COUNCIL OF A CHARTER
COUNTY WITH A COUNTY EXECUTIVE;
(2) THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF A CHARTER COUNTY WITH NO COUNTY
EXECUTIVE;
(3) THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF A COUNTY; OR
(4) THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL, BY WHATEVER NAME KNOWN, OF A
MUNICIPAL CORPORATION.
