Ch. 583                                    2005 LAWS OF MARYLAND (16)   Create, own, control, or be a member of, a corporation, limited
liability company, partnership or other person, whether operated for profit or not for
profit; (17)   Exercise any power usually possessed by private corporations in
performing similar functions, which is not in conflict with the Constitution and the
laws of this State; and (18)   Do all things necessary and convenient to carry out the powers
expressly granted by this subtitle. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2005. Approved May 26, 2005. CHAPTER 583
(House Bill 920) AN ACT concerning Employees' Pension System - Transfer of Service Credit FOR the purpose of providing that certain members of the Employees' Pension
System may transfer certain service credit from the Correctional Officers'
Retirement System in a certain manner; requiring that certain members of the
Employees' Pension System who transfer certain service credit from the
Correctional Officers' Retirement System complete and file certain forms with
the Board of Trustees of the State Retirement and Pension System by a certain
date; providing for the termination of this Act; and generally relating to the
transfer of service credit for members of the Employees' Pension System. SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That: (a) This section applies to an individual who: (1)     on or before December 1, 1983, was employed as a correctional officer
and joined the Correctional Officers' Retirement System; (2)     on or before June 1, 1997, was employed as a Correctional Case
Management Specialist and joined the Employees' Pension System; (3)     prior to accepting employment as a Correctional Case Management
Specialist was eligible to receive a deferred vested allowance from the Correctional
Officers' Retirement System as early as December 1, 2006; and (4)     on January 1, 2005, had not transferred the years of creditable
service the individual had accrued in the Correctional Officers' Retirement System to
the Employees' Pension System. - 3324 -
