CHAPTER 219
(House Bill 572) AN ACT concerning Courts and Judicial Proceedings - Cecil County - Salary of the Sheriff FOR the purpose of increasing the annual salary of the Sheriff of Cecil County,
beginning with a certain calendar year; providing that this Act does not apply to
the salary or compensation of the incumbent Sheriff of Cecil County; providing
for the effective date of certain provisions of this Act;
and generally relating to
the salary of the Sheriff of Cecil County. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
Section 2-309(i)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(2002 Replacement Volume and 2004 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings 2-309. (i) (1) (i) The Sheriff of Cecil County shall receive an annual salary of: 1.       [$47,000] $64,000 for calendar year [2002] 2007; 2.       [$50,000] $66,500 for calendar year [2003] 2008; 3.       [$51,500] $69,000 for calendar year [2004] 2009; AND 4.       [$53,000] $71,500 for calendar year [2005; and 5.       $54,000 for calendar year 2006] 2010 and for each
subsequent year. (ii) In addition, the Sheriff shall receive the benefits and
reimbursements for reasonable expenses in the performance of duties as provided in
the Cecil County budget or by law, including, where appropriate: 1.       Reimbursements under the Standard State Travel
Regulations; and 2.       Participation in the health care plan that is negotiated for
county employees. (iii) 1. The Sheriff shall appoint a chief deputy sheriff, a
community adult rehabilitation center administrator, a detention center director, a
