Dorchester County, but not less than a certain minimum amount; altering
certain expense allowances for the judges of the Orphans' Court for Dorchester
County; providing that this Act does not apply to the salary or compensation of
the incumbent judges of the Orphans' Court for Dorchester County; and
generally relating to the compensation and expense allowances for the judges of
the Orphans' Court for Dorchester County. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article — Estates and Trusts
Section 2-108(k)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(2001 Replacement Volume and 2005 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article - Estates and Trusts 2-108. (k) Each of the judges of the Court for Dorchester County shall receive an
annual salary in the amount of AS DETERMINED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL, BUT NOT
LESS THAN [$3,500] $4,700. Each judge shall also receive an EXPENSE allowance of
AS DETERMINED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL, BUT NOT LESS THAN [$10] $800 [for
expenses for every day's attendance upon the sessions of the Court] ANNUALLY. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III, §
35 of the Maryland Constitution, this Act may not be construed to extend or apply to
the salary or compensation of the judges of the Orphans' Court for Dorchester County
in office on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the
salary or compensation of the judges of the Orphans' Court for Dorchester County
shall take effect at the beginning of the next following term of office. SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2006.
