May 26, 2006 The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, MD 21401 Dear Mr. President: In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have
vetoed Senate Bill 255 — Correctional Officers' Retirement System - Membership. This bill alters the membership of the Correctional Officers' Retirement System to
include individuals serving as correctional dietary, maintenance, or supply officers;
requires the transfer of employer contributions from the Employees' Retirement
System and Employees' Pension System to the accumulation fund of the Correctional
Officers' Retirement System; and requires the transfer of specified member
contributions to the annuity savings fund of the Correctional Officers' Retirement
System. House Bill 676, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 255. Very truly yours,
Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.
Governor
