UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF MARYLAND
The appropriation herein for University
System of Maryland (USM) institutions to
fund State Employee and Retiree Health
and Welfare Benefits Program costs shall
be reduced by $18,898,865 in current
unrestricted funds attributable to tuition
revenues related to rate increases for
resident undergraduate students. The
allocation of the reduction shall be
determined by the USM Board of Regents
and adopted in a public meeting. In
allocating the reduction to tuition
revenues, the Board may reallocate the
general fund appropriations reflected in
the fiscal 2007 budget. It in the intent of
the General Assembly that the allocation
be based on each institution's share of the
overstated costs in the fiscal 2007 budget
and tuition revenue reductions. The
Board of Regents shall report to the
budget committees by July 1, 2006,
specifying and explaining the allocation of
the reduction.
USM shall not increase the current
unrestricted fund appropriation of any
institution through budget amendment
due to tuition and fee revenue attributable
to a tuition rate increase for resident
undergraduate students. Any tuition and
fee revenue realized in fiscal 2007 in
excess of $1,021,570,619 attributable to a
tuition rate increase for resident
