387) John Stanley Comp.lt ag.t Decree in Chancery Hen.r Brents Adm.rx Maryland Whereas heretofore y.t is to say on y.e 14.th day of Dec.r 1696 John Stanley of Ann Arundell County exhibited his bill of Complaint in y.e Court of Chancery ag.st Ann Brent Adm.rx of Hen.ry Brent decd & against Rich.d Marsham who intermarried with y.e s.d Adm.rx in ord.r to procure an ord.r or decree for y.e s.d Court y.t y.e s.d Marsham & Ann his wife (or else George Brent y.e brother & heir of s.d Hen.r Brent) should by a good Conveyance in Law make over to y.e s.d Stanley a tract of Land containing seven hundred seventy five acres p.t of a tract of 1350 acres formerly taken up by High Stanley in Pocomoke River in Somerset County; because y.t y.e s.d Hen.ry Brent (decd) had for y.e Consideration of 21 thousand pds tob premised to convey to y.e s.d Stanley y.e Land afores.d but died before he had so done thô y.e s.d Stanley had actually paid to y.e s.d Hen.r Brent in his life time nine thousand pounds tob in pt of y.e s.d 21000 tob & was ready to pay y.e remainder according to Agreements as in y.e s.d bill doth at large appear Therefore y.e s.d Court of Chanc.ry upon y.e 12.th day of Sept.r 1698 did & doth Decree upon hearing y.e s.d Cause That y.e s.d Compl.t Stanley shall continue & abide in the possession of y.e Land aforesaid And y.t he pay y.e tobacco debt sued for in y.e bonds in y.e foresaid bill mentioned abating & discounting so much as shall appear to be allready paid in p.t thereof And also y.t he pay moderate Cost to y.e Deft John Freeman Regist.r in Chanc.ry (locus) (sigilli) |
