360) M.r Rookwoods Letter of Attorney to M.r Hussy Know all Men by these presents y.t I Edward Rookwood of Charles County in y.e province of Maryland planter have assigned ordained & made & in my stead & place by these p.rsents do put & constitute my trusty & well beloved Friend Tho.s Hussy of y.e aforesaid County & province Gent to be my true & lawfull attorney for Me & in my name & to my use to ask require & receive of Richard Smith of Calvert County Gent in y.e province afd y.e Full & just sum of sixty Nine pounds sterl with y.e od Money if any according to a Decree in Chancery by Me y.e s.d Edward Rookwood obtained against y.e s.d Richard Smith As also y.e Costs & Charges of suit & Charges of suit at Comon Law which are now due to Me by any manner of waies or means whatsoever And in case of Non payment of y.e Money sterl afd or any part thereof with y.e Cost afd for Me & in my Name to take out Execution or Executions against y.e s.d Richard Smith as he shall see meet & convenient Hereby giving & granting unto my said Attorney my whole power & authority in & about y.e premisses And upon y.e Receit of y.e s.d sixty Nine pds sterl with y.e s.d Money if any & y.e Cost of suit as afd or any part thereof Acquittances or discharges for Me & in my Name to seal & deliver & all & every such Act & Acts thing & things device & devices whatsoever in y.e Law for y.e Recovery of y.e afd 69.ℓ st Money with y.e od if any & y.e Cost of suit as afd for Me & in my Name to do execute & perform as fully largely & amply in every aspect to all intents & purposes as I my self might or could do if personally p.rsent Ratifying & Confirmeing allowing whatsoever my said Attorney shall lawfully do to be firm & staple or whatsoever he shall cause to be done in or about y.e p.rmisses by virtue of y.e s.d presents In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal y.e seventeenth day of Feb.r 1696/7 signed seald & deld his in p.rsence of Edw.d C Rookwood (loc W.m Moss (sig his mark John O Thomas mark Charles Evans Feb 17.° 1696/7 Then came Charles Evans & John Thomas before Me Philip Hoskins one of his Maj.ties Justices of y.e Pvin.ll Court & made oath upon y.e holy Evangelists y.t they see Edw.d Rookwood signe seal & deliver y.e within Letter of Attorney for y.e use of M.r Tho.s Hussy as Witness my hand Ph Hoskins May 1697 Recorded by John Freeman Regist.r |
