CHAPTER 223 (House Bill 549) AN ACT concerning Fire Fighters, Rescue Squad Members, Emergency Services
Personnel - Interfering With, Obstructing,
or Impersonating Falsely Representing FOR the purpose of providing that it is unlawful to impersonate
fire fighters, rescue squad members, and emergency services
personnel; making it unlawful for persons to falsely
represent themselves, for certain purposes, as paid or
volunteer members of a fire department, rescue squad,
emergency service unit of the State, any county, Baltimore
City, or municipal corporation; making it unlawful for a
person to have, use, wear, or display certain insignia or
imitation or simulation of the insignia of certain fire
departments, rescue squads, or emergency service units for
purposes of deception; and providing that it is unlawful to
interfere with or obstruct rescue squad members or emergency
services personnel. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments Section 11D to be under the amended subheading "Interfering
With, Obstructing, or Impersonating Fire Fighters,
Rescue Squad Members, or Emergency Services
Personnel" Annotated Code of Maryland (1982 Replacement Volume and 1982 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Crimes and Punishments
Article 27
Interfering With, [or] Obstructing [Firemen], OR IMPERSONATING FALSELY REPRESENT BEING FIRE FIGHTERS, RESCUE SQUAD MEMBERS, OR EMERGENCY SERVICES PERSONNEL
11D.
(a) It is unlawful for any person willfully to interfere
with [or], obstruct, OR IMPERSONATE a [fireman] FIRE FIGHTER,
RESCUE SQUAD MEMBER, OR EMERGENCY SERVICES PERSONNEL, while the
[fireman] FIRE FIGHTER, RESCUE SQUAD MEMBER, OR THE EMERGENCY
SERVICES PERSONNEL is fighting a fire, PERFORMING EMERGENCY
SERVICE, or proceeding to a fire or other emergency.
