SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1983. Approved May 10, 1983.
CHAPTER 208 (House Bill 397) AN ACT concerning Board of Trustees of State Universities and Colleges FOR the purpose of increasing the number of persons serving on
the Board of Trustees of State Universities and Colleges;
and providing for the staggering of terms of the new
members. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article - Education Section 14-102(a) and (d)(1) Annotated Code of Maryland (1978 Volume and 1982 Supplement)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article - Education 14-102. (a) The board of trustees consists of [11] 15 members
appointed by the Governor. (d) (1) Except for the student member, each member serves
for a term of 5 years and until a successor is appointed and
qualifies. These terms are staggered as required by the terms of
the members serving on July 1, [1978] 1983.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That for purposes of
staggering the terms of the members appointed pursuant to this
enactment, one of the new members shall be appointed to a term of
2 years, 2 shall be appointed to terms of 4 years, and one shall
