AN ACT concerning
State Office for Children and Youth
FOR the purpose of continuing the Office for Children and Youth
for a certain period; altering the composition of the
Advisory Committee for Children and Youth; altering the
relationship between the Office and local children's
councils, deleting certain requirements relating to the
appointment and composition of local children's councils;
altering the duties of the Director and Advisory Committee
of the Office and of the local children's councils;
terminating the terms of office of members of the Advisory
Committee as of a certain date; making stylistic changes;
and relating generally to the Office for Children and Youth.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 49D - Office for Children and Youth

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 49D - Office for Children and Youth
1.
(a) The Office for Children and Youth is created as part of
the Executive Department. The Office consists of a Director[ ,
the] AND AN Advisory Committee for Children and Youth[ , and the
children's councils].
(b) The Director for Children and Youth is appointed by and
serves at the pleasure of the Governor and is directly
responsible to him. [The Director is responsible for the
operation of the Office and shall establish guidelines and
procedures to promote the orderly and efficient administration of
