SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act the
provisions of Sections 17(b)(5) of Article 78B of the Code as
amended by Section 1 of this Act shall take effect June 1, 1983
and the remaining provisions of Article 78B of the Code as
amended by Section 1 of this Act shall take effect July 1, 1983.

(Senate Bill 609)
AN ACT concerning
Carroll County - Bingo
FOR the purpose of altering the maximum amount of money that may
be awarded as a cash prize in a bingo game in Carroll
County; altering the maximum amount of money that may be
awarded as a "jackpot" prize in bingo; and generally
relating to bingo in Carroll County.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments
248A.
(a) Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed to make it
unlawful for any bona fide fraternal, religious, patriotic,
educational or charitable organization or corporation, or
volunteer fire company located in Carroll County to conduct or
operate a game of bingo in Carroll County for the benefit of
charity or in furtherance of the purposes of the organization,
corporation or volunteer fire company.
(b) Any game of bingo conducted or operated under the
provisions of this section shall be conducted or operated by the
organization, corporation or volunteer fire company securing the
permit therefor; and the right to conduct or operate the game of
bingo shall not be transferred or assigned to any other person,
firm, or corporation.
