(1) The State's Attorney's salary shall be equal to
the salary of A JUDGE OF the District Court judges OF MARYLAND
[of the trial courts of general jurisdiction of the eight
judicial circuits in the State]. [He] THE STATE'S ATTORNEY may
not engage in the private practice of law.

|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act may not
be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the State's
Attorney in office on the effective date of this Act, but the
provisions of this Act concerning the salary of the State's
Attorney shall take effect at the beginning of the next following
term of office.

|
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of
all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the General
Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its
passage.
