The Honorable Benjamin L. Cardin
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404
Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 314.
This bill provides that the Maryland Natural Resources
Police and its Virginia counterparts can continuously pursue
persons who have violated State law into the other state's waters
and make an arrest.
Senate Bill 296, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on May 31, 1983, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 314.
