FOR the purpose of adding consumer members to the Maryland State
Board of Public Accountancy; providing for the initial terms
of the consumer members and the staggering of their terms of
office; providing for the reappointment of the initial
consumer members; making stylistic changes; and generally
relating to the Maryland State Board of Public Accountancy.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 75A - Public Accountancy
1.
[(a) The Maryland Board of Examiners of Public Accountants
is continued under the name Maryland State Board of Public
Accountancy. The State Board of Public Accountancy shall be a
part of the Department of Licensing and Regulation. It shall
consist of five members appointed by the Governor, with the
advice of the Secretary of Licensing and Regulation. All members
shall be citizens of the United States and residents of this
State. Three members shall be Maryland certified public
accountants currently enrolled under § 11 of this article to
practice as such, one member shall be a full-time college
professor in the field of accounting at an accredited institution
who holds a Maryland CPA certificate, and one member shall be an
attorney-at-law practicing and in good standing in the courts of
Maryland, each of whom shall hold office for a term of three
years. The attorney-at-law shall not be a certified public
accountant.]
(A) (1) THERE IS A MARYLAND STATE BOARD OF PUBLIC
ACCOUNTANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATION.
(2) THE BOARD CONSIST CONSISTS OF 7 MEMBERS APPOINTED
BY THE GOVERNOR WITH THE ADVICE OF THE SECRETARY OF LICENSING AND
REGULATION. ALL MEMBERS SHALL BE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES
