2184                                             LAWS OF MARYLAND                                        Ch. 671 from the alternative methods established by this Act;
providing for the filing of certificates of candidacy for
the position of State Convention delegate; providing a filing fee for such certificates; providing for the deposition of such fees; eliminating the filing fee for a
candidate for delegate to a national convention; deleting a
requirement that certain delegates to the Democratic
National Convention be bound to support certain candidates;
renumbering; generally relating to the selection of
delegates to the national conventions of political parties;
and providing an effective date. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article 33 - Election Code Section 4A-2(f), 4A-6(a), 4A-8(d), 12-1, 12-2, and 12-3
Annotated Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1982 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IX ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article 33 - Election Code 4A-2. (f) Certificates of candidacy for the candidates for
election as delegates to a national convention OR A STATE
CONVENTION may be filed by certified mail, return receipt
requested, with the State Administrative Board of Election Laws,
and if mailed, must be received by the State Board no later than
15 days before the filing deadline. 4A-6. (a) Each candidate for nomination to public office at a
primary election shall pay the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25)
for the county or Baltimore City in which his name appears upon
the ballot, except as may be otherwise provided in this section.
In any county where the salary of the office for which nomination
is sought is three hundred dollars ($300) or less, the payment
shall be ten dollars ($10). All payments shall be made to the
person with whom the certificate is filed and shall accompany the
certificate. At a primary election each candidate as a delegate
to a national convention OR A STATE CONVENTION, or FOR ELECTION
as a member of the central committee, executive committee of any
party or other party committee, shall pay the sum of ten dollars
($10.00) upon filing his certificate with the board or State
Administrative Board of Election Laws. 4A-8.
