13-615.
(a) (1) The owner of any vehicle described in paragraph
(2) of this subsection may apply to the Administration for the
assignment to that vehicle of a special, volunteer fire
department [or], volunteer rescue squad, OR VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE
COMPANY registration number, if the applicant is a member of a
volunteer fire department [or], volunteer rescue squad, OR
VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE COMPANY in this State.
(2) This section applies only as to:
(i) A Class A (passenger) vehicle; or
(ii) A Class E (truck) vehicle with a 3/4 ton
or less manufacturer's rated capacity.
(b) Special registration may be issued and continued under
this section only if the applicant submits, with the original and
each renewal application, proof by the Maryland State Firemen's
Association that the applicant is a member of a volunteer fire
department [or], volunteer rescue squad, OR VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE
COMPANY in this State.
(c) No fee in addition to the annual registration fee
otherwise required by this title is required for special
registration under this section.
(d) A special registration number assigned under this
section shall:
(1) Consist of the letters, numerals, or both that
the Administration specifies; and
(2) Be displayed on the registration plates issued
for the vehicle, together with the special symbol that the
Administration specifies.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1983.
