Article 75A - Public Accountancy

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 75A - Public Accountancy
1.
[(a) The Maryland Board of Examiners of Public Accountants
is continued under the name Maryland State Board of Public
Accountancy. The State Board of Public Accountancy shall be a
part of the Department of Licensing and Regulation. It. shall
consist of five members appointed by the Governor, with the
advice of the Secretary of Licensing and Regulation. All members
shall be citizens of the United States and residents of this
State. Three members shall be Maryland certified public
accountants currently enrolled under § II of this article to
practice as such one member shall be a full-time college
professor in the field of accounting at an accredited institution
who holds a Maryland CPA certificate, and one member shall be an
attorney-at-law practicing and in good standing in the courts of
Maryland, each of whom shall hold office for a term of three
years. The attorney-at-law shall not be a certified public
accountant.]
(A) (1) THERE IS A MARYLAND STATE BOARD OF PUBLIC
ACCOUNTANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATION.
(2) THE BOARD SHALL CONSIST OF 7 MEMBERS APPOINTED BY
THE GOVERNOR WITH THE ADVICE OF THE SECRETARY OF LICENSING AND
REGULATION. ALL MEMBERS SHALL, BE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES
AND RESIDENTS OF THIS STATE.
(3) OF THE 7 BOARD MEMBERS:

(I) 3 SHALL BE
ACCOUNTANTS ENROLLED UNDER § 11
|
|
MARYLAND CERTIFIED PUBLIC
OF THIS ARTICLE TO PRACTICE AS
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS;
(II) 2 SHALL BE CONSUMER MEMBERS;
(III) 1 SHALL BE A FULL-TIME PROFESSOR OF
ACCOUNTING WHO TEACHES AT AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE AND WHO HOLDS A
MARYLAND CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTANCY; AND
(IV) 1 SHALL BE A PRACTICING ATTORNEY WHO IS IN
GOOD STANDING WITH THE COURTS OF THIS STATE AND WHO MAY NOT BE A
CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT.
(4) (3) EACH OF THE 7 BOARD MEMBERS SHALL HOLD OFFICE
FOR A TERM OF 3 YEARS.
