SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 66B - Zoning and Planning
4.07.
(a) The local legislative body shall provide for the
appointment of a board of appeals.
The board of appeals consists of three or five members. The
terms of office of the members of the board are three years. They
shall be appointed by the local executive, confirmed by the local
legislative body, and removable for cause, upon written charges,
and after public hearing. Vacancies shall be filled for the
unexpired terms of any member whose term becomes vacant. Members
of the board may receive such compensation as the local
legislative body deems appropriate.
(b-1) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) of
this section, in Frederick County AND ST. MARY'S COUNTY, after
July 1, 1977, the board members may be appointed to staggered
terms varying from one to three years.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1983.
