Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages 148. (d) In St. Mary's County the board of license commissioners
as it existed prior to June 1, 1963 is abolished and a new board
shall be appointed as of that date, as provided in subsection (a)
of this section which shall be styled notwithstanding the
provisions of subsection (a) "the alcoholic beverage board of St.
Mary's County," but which in all other respects shall be the same
as a board appointed under subsection (a). IN ADDITION TO THE
BOARD MEMBERS APPOINTED UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION, THE
GOVERNOR SHALL APPOINT AN ALTERNATE BOARD MEMBER WHO SHALL SERVE
WHENEVER ANY REGULAR BOARD MEMBER IS ABSENT FROM A MEETING. THE
TERM OF OFFICE OF THE ALTERNATE BOARD MEMBER SHALL RUN
CONCURRENTLY WITH THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF THE REGULAR MEMBERS OF
THE BOARD SERVING IN OFFICE ON JULY 1, 1983. The members of said
board shall organize by electing their own chairman. They shall
meet at least once during each calendar month, and as frequently
in addition thereto as in their discretion is required by the
duties of their office. All hearings held by the board shall be
open to the public. The board is authorized to appoint advisory
committees composed of responsible persons in the county for the
purpose of advising the board on any matters relating to
administration of the alcoholic beverage laws. One member of the
REGULAR board shall always be a member of that political party
which at the last preceding gubernatorial election polled the
second highest number of votes throughout the State for that
office.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1983. Approved April 12, 1983.
CHAPTER 34 (House Bill 563) AN ACT concerning St. Mary's County - Zoning Appeals Board -
Term of Members FOR the purpose of providing that members of the St. Mary's
County Zoning Board of Appeals may be appointed to staggered
terms; and generally relating to the term of office for
members of the St. Mary's County Zoning Appeals Board. BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,
