CHAPTER 483 (House Bill 1303) AN ACT concerning Regional Planning Council - Membership FOR the purpose of providing that the provision concerning a
member of the Regional Planning Council to represent
municipalities does not apply to municipal corporations
located in Anne Arundel County; providing that the Mayor of the City of Annapolis shall be a an ex officio nonvoting member of the Council; granting the Mayor the authority to
appoint an alternate in the Mayor's absence; providing a
formula for the share of the budget of the Regional Planning
Council to be paid by the City of Annapolis; and making
technical revisions in the existing provisions. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article 78D - Regional Planning Council
Section 4(a), (c), and (1) and 18
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1980 Replacement Volume and 1982 Supplement) Preamble WHEREAS, The City of Annapolis is the Capital of the State
of Maryland; and WHEREAS, The City has received a designation as an urbanized
area under federal regulations and, as such, has been included as
a member of the Transportation Steering Committee of the Regional
Planning Council; and WHEREAS, The City has been accorded full voting
representation on the Fire Chiefs Council of the Regional
Planning Council; and WHEREAS, The City of Annapolis is among the most full
service of Maryland municipalities offering its citizens service
by the following City agencies: Aging, Community Development,
Fire, Planning and Zoning, Police, Public Works, Recreation and
Parks, and Transportation; and WHEREAS, The City of Annapolis plays a unique role in the
Baltimore metropolitan region, a region whose economy and
well-being are best advanced when all units of government work
together to solve mutual problems; and WHEREAS, Membership by the City of Annapolis on the Council
is consistent with legislative policy and intent expressed in the
creation of the Council; now, therefore,
