1460 LAWS OF MARYLAND
(b) [The benefits for ordinary disability for any
correctional officer in these classifications, who has served as
a correctional officer in one of these classifications for at
least 5 years immediately before retirement, shall be computed as
specified in this section. The benefit for accidental disability
shall be computed as provided by § 11(7) of this article. In
cases of vested retirement allowance as provided under § 11(16)
of this article, the benefits payable to any correctional officer
in these classifications who has served as a correctional officer
in one of these classifications, for at least 5 years immediately
before retirement, shall begin when he is 55 years old.] A
CORRECTIONAL OFFICER IN THESE CLASSIFICATIONS AND A MAXIMUM
SECURITY ATTENDANT AT CLIFTON T. PERKINS HOSPITAL CENTER ARE
ELIGIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING DISABILITY BENEFITS: (1)  THE BENEFITS FOR ORDINARY DISABILITY COMPUTED AS
PROVIDED BY § 11(4) AND (5) OF THIS ARTICLE; AND (2)  THE BENEFITS FOR ACCIDENTAL DISABILITY COMPUTED
AS PROVIDED BY § 11(6) AND (7) OF THIS ARTICLE. (C) THE BENEFIT FOR A VESTED RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE FOR A
CORRECTIONAL OFFICER IN THESE CLASSIFICATIONS AND A MAXIMUM
SECURITY ATTENDANT AT CLIFTON T. PERKINS HOSPITAL CENTER IS
COMPUTED AS PROVIDED IN § 11(16) OF THIS ARTICLE. THE BENEFITS
PROVIDED BY THIS SUBSECTION SHALL BEGIN WHEN THE CORRECTIONAL
OFFICER IS 55 YEARS OLD AND WHEN THE MAXIMUM SECURITY ATTENDANT
IS 60 YEARS OLD. [(c)] (D) The benefits payable on the death of any
correctional officer [shall be] OR MAXIMUM SECURITY ATTENDANT AT
CLIFTON T.' PERKINS HOSPITAL CENTER ARE those provided by [§]§
11(9) [and 11(11)(b)] of this article. The optional allowance
provided by § 11(11)(a) of this article AND THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE
RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE PROVIDED BY § 11A OF THIS ARTICLE shall be
available to any correctional officer OR MAXIMUM SECURITY
ATTENDANT AT CLIFTON T. PERKINS HOSPITAL CENTER retiring on a
disability or service retirement allowance. [(d)] (E) The administration, management, and funding of
the benefits for correctional officers [shall be] AND MAXIMUM
SECURITY ATTENDANTS AT CLIFTON T. PERKINS HOSPITAL CENTER ARE the
same as those provided by the Employees' Retirement System of the
State of Maryland.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section(s) 157
of Article 73B - Pensions, of the Annotated Code of Maryland be
repealed.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1983. Approved May 24, 1983.
