AN ACT concerning
Howard County - Board of Education
FOR the purpose of altering the time of election of the chairman
and the beginning of the term of the members of the Howard
County Board of Education; and repealing certain obsolete
provisions relating to the Howard County Board of Education.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 3-501(c) and (d)(1) and 3-502

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Education
3-501.
(c) [(1)] Members of the Howard County Board shall be
elected:
[(i)] (1) At the general election every 2 years
as required by subsection (d) of this section; and
[(ii)] (2) From Howard County at large.
[(2) One member of the Board shall be elected in the
general election of November 1978 and every 6 years after to
replace the interim incumbent member serving on the County Board
as of July 1, 1978.]
(d) (1) Each member serves for a term of 6 years beginning
on [January 1] THE FIRST MONDAY IN DECEMBER after his election
and until a successor is elected and qualifies. The terms of
members are staggered as required by the terms of the members
serving on the County Board as of July 1, 1978.
