1346 LAWS OF MARYLAND
FOR the purpose of amending Chapter 660 of the Acts of 1981 to
increase the amount of the debt authorized by that Act;
permitting the use of the proceeds of that Act for
acquiring, renovating, and equipping the property at 729-731
Graves Street in Baltimore City as a work release annex of
the Baltimore City Jail; increasing the amount of matching
funds that must be provided by the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore for this project; changing the date by which
certain evidence regarding matching funds must be presented
to the Board of Public Works; extending the time within
which the project must be placed under contract or certain
funds must be allocated; clarifying language; and generally
relating to the Baltimore City Jail Loan of 1981. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Chapter 660 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1981
Section 1(1), (3), and (5) BY adding to Chapter 660 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1981
Section 1(6) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Chapter 660 of the Acts of 1981 SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That: (1) The Board of Public Works may borrow money and incur
indebtedness on behalf of the State of Maryland through a State
loan to be known as the Baltimore City Jail Loan of 1981 in the
aggregate principal amount of [$607,000] $861,000 $848,000. This
loan shall be evidenced by the issuance and sale of State general
obligation bonds authorized by a resolution of the Board of
Public Works and issued, sold and delivered in accordance with
the provisions of §§ 19 to 23 of Article 31 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1980 Supplement, as
amended from time to time). (3) The actual cash proceeds of the sale of the bonds shall
be paid to the Treasurer and shall be first applied to the
payment of the expenses of issuing and delivering the bonds
unless funds for this purpose are otherwise provided and
thereafter shall be credited on the books of the State
Comptroller and expended, upon approval by the Board of Public
Works, for the following public purposes, including any
applicable architects' and engineers' fees: for the study,
renovation, improvement and construction of facilities at the
Baltimore City Jail, AND FOR ACQUIRING, RENOVATING, AND EQUIPPING
THE PROPERTY AT 729-731 GRAVES STREET IN BALTIMORE CITY AS A
WORK RELEASE ANNEX OF THE BALTIMORE CITY JAIL.
