(Senate Bill 895)
AN ACT concerning
Cecil County - State's Attorney
FOR the purpose of altering the number of assistant State's
attorneys in Cecil County; and relating generally to the
office of the State's Attorney in Cecil County.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact
Section 40(h)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 10 - Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact
40.
(h) In Cecil County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is
$22,500 a year and he may serve part time. In addition to the
compensation provided for in this section, the State's Attorney,
for the operation of his office and the performance of his
duties, shall be entitled to a reasonable expense allowance which
shall be subject to the approval of the Board of County
Commissioners.
(2) The State's Attorney may appoint [four) 6
assistant State's attorneys to serve part time at the pleasure of
the State's Attorney. The first assistant State's attorney's
salary shall be not less than $15,000 a year and [two] of the
remaining [three] assistant State's attorneys' [salary] SALARIES
shall be not less than $13,000 a year each. [The third shall
serve as the Assistant State's Attorney for the District Court
and receive not less than $10,000.]
