AN ACT concerning
Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs -
Point Assessment
FOR the purpose of increasing the assessment of points against a
driver's license for conviction of driving under the
influence of alcohol or drugs.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Transportation
Section 16-402(a)(14)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Transportation
16-402.
(a) After the conviction of an individual for a violation
of Article 27, [§§] § 388 or § 388A of the Code, or of the
vehicle laws or regulations of this State or of any local
authority, points shall be assessed against the individual as
follows:
(14) Driving while under the influence of alcohol or
while under influence of a drug, combination of drugs, or
combination of drugs and alcohol.....................[6] 8 points

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1983.
