The Honorable James Clark, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404
Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 620.
This bill provides that the tenure of office of each
committee-appointed member of the district governing bodies
of the Soil Conservation District Supervisors will be five
years. Existing law specifies the term of office to be four
years, and the bill provides that each supervisor serving at
the effective date of this Act shall serve out a fifth year
beyond the original 4 year terms.
House Bill 802, which was passed by the General
Assembly and signed by me on June 1, 1982, accomplishes the
same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
Senate Bill 620.
