Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 482.
This bill provides that a member of the State
Retirement Systems eligible to retire who terminates service
without retiring may later retire. Retirement then will
begin after written application for it.
Senate Bill 265, which was passed by the General
Assembly and signed by me on June 1, 1982 accomplishes the
same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
House Bill 482.
