of Maryland, 1982 Special Session, is now ready for the
transaction of business.

Convening the General Assembly of Maryland
in Extraordinary Session at Annapolis, Maryland
on Friday, August 6, 1982 at 10:00 a.m.
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1981,
Public Law 97-35, enacted by the Congress
of the United States and approved by the
President of the United States, changed the
provisions of federal law which determine
the availability of extended unemployment
insurance benefits to persons who have
exhausted their regular unemployment
insurance benefits; and
WHEREAS, As the result of the change in federal law,
extended unemployment benefits will not be
available to persons in Maryland for weeks
beginning after July 31, 1982; and
WHEREAS, It is necessary to modify existing Maryland
law to prevent the loss of unemployment
insurance benefits to thousands of Maryland
citizens who have exhausted their regular
unemployment insurance benefits;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, HARRY HUGHES, GOVERNOR OF MARYLAND,
PURSUANT TO THE POWERS VESTED IN ME BY ARTICLE II, SECTION
16 AND ARTICLE III, SECTION 14 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF
MARYLAND, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM AND CONVENE A SPECIAL AND
EXTRAORDINARY SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND TO
COMMENCE AT 10:00 A.M. ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 6, 1982, IN THE
STATE CAPITOL IN THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS FOR THE PURPOSE OF
