The Honorable James Clark, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21401
Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 933.
This bill authorizes an additional fee to that
currently imposed for the issuance of marriage licenses in
Prince George's County as a source of funding for battered
spouse shelters and domestic violence programs.
House Bill 928, which was passed by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 4, 1982 accomplished the
same purpose. Therefore it is not necessary for me to sign
Senate Bill 933.

Harry Hughes
