unnecessary.

In subsection (b)(2) of this section, the phrase
"where the child is located" is substituted for
the ambiguous phrase "wherein the infant is cared
for", to conform to the Department practice.

In subsection (c) of this section, the
requirement in former Article 27, § 273 that a
"midwife, nurse, or person" submit a report is
deleted to prevent the filing of duplicate
reports that would result since the physician to
whom the child is referred is required to submit
a report.

In subsection (d) of this section, the word
"treat" is substituted for the phrase
"application of any remedy", for clarity.

substitution of "health officer" for "health
commissioner", see the General Revisor's Note to

18-309. THERAPEUTIC NUTRITION FOR PREGNANT WOMEN, INFANTS,
AND CHILDREN.

(A)  STUDY REQUIRED.

(1)  THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PROVIDE FOR A STUDY ON
THE THERAPEUTIC NUTRITION THAT A PREGNANT WOMAN, INFANT, OR
YOUNG CHILD NEEDS.

(2)  THE STUDY SHALL:

(I)  DETERMINE THE MEANS TO PROVIDE
PREGNANT WOMEN, INFANTS, AND YOUNG CHILDREN WITH
SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITIOUS FOOD AND EDUCATION ON NUTRITION AS
AN ADJUNCT TO HEALTH CARE DURING CRITICAL GROWTH AND
DEVELOPMENT STAGES, SO AS TO PREVENT HEALTH PROBLEMS; AND

(II)  INCLUDE A CONSIDERATION OF THE
FEDERAL CHILD NUTRITION ACT OF 1966 (PUBLIC LAW 89-642).

(B)  REPORT.

(1) ON OR BEFORE JULY 1, 1983, THE DEPARTMENT
SHALL SUBMIT TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY A REPORT ON THE
FINDINGS OF THE STUDY.

(2) THE REPORT SHALL INCLUDE, FOR A THERAPEUTIC
