(C)  COMPENSATION AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES.
A MEMBER OF THE STATE COMMISSION:

(1)  MAY NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION; BUT

(2)   IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES
UNDER THE STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS, AS PROVIDED IN
THE STATE BUDGET.

(D)  STAFF.

(1)  WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE SECRETARY, THE
STATE COMMISSION MAY EMPLOY A STAFF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STATE BUDGET.

(2)  AN OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE OF THE STATE
COMMISSION IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE STATE MERIT SYSTEM LAW.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsections (a) and (b) of this section
are new language derived without substantive
change from the first and second sentences of
former Article 41, § 343(a).

Subsection (c) of this section formerly appeared
as the third sentence of Article 41, § 340(a).

Subsection (d) of this section formerly appeared
as Article 41, § 342(d).

In subsection (b)(1) of this section, the phrase
"at the times and places that it determines" is
added for clarity.

In subsection (c) of this section, the former
reference to reimbursement "for necessary travel
and other expenses incurred in the performance of
their duties" is deleted as unnecessary in light
of the reference to the Standard State Travel
Regulations. Standard State Travel Regulations
are adopted by the Department of Personnel with
the approval of the Board of Public Works.

In subsection (d) of this section, the former
reference to the types of staff and its purpose
is deleted as unnecessary.

The only other changes are in style.

Former Article 41, § 342(e), which required that
the State Commission receive the funds provided
