AN ACT concerning

Employees Retirement System of Baltimore County -
Optional Membership

FOR the purpose of providing that persons employed on
or after July 1, 1980 and who, at the date of their
employment, had attained the age of fifty-nine (59) years
shall have the option of not joining the Employees
Retirement System.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments

AN ACT concerning

Employees' Retirement System
Exemptions from mandatory membership

FOR the purpose of exempting certain elected, appointed
and non-merit employees from mandatory membership in the
Employees' Retirement System; providing that such employees
may elect, within a certain period of time, not to be a
member for all purposes or only for future contributions;
providing that such persons employed after June 30, 1981
shall have two (2) years from the date of employment to
elect to join the system but not thereafter; and providing
that such persons, upon termination of employment, may be
eligible to receive a deferred retired allowance upon
certain conditions and providing that such persons make
certain elections may not later purchase credit for service
rendered subsequent to the election.
