A RESOLUTION TO REVISE THE CHARTER
FOR THE TOWN OF CHESTERTOWN

Resolution by the Mayor and Council of Chestertown,
Maryland, adopted pursuant to the authority of Article 23A,
section 13, of the Annotated Code of Maryland, 1957 Edition
as amended, entitled "Municipal Corporations", to revise and
amend the Charter of Chestertown, the said amendment to make
the following changes:

1.   To revise the boundaries of the Town.

2.   To delete the boundary description of the four
wards.

3.   To delete the property requirements for candidates
for Town Council and for Mayor.

4.   To change the age requirements of Council
candidates from 25 to 21 years of age.

5.   To change the residency requirements for
Councilmembers from two years to one year.

6.   To require 30 days residency in the ward for
candidates for the Council.

7.   To add to the oath of office a phrase regarding
compliance with the laws of Chestertown.

8.   To revise the duties and responsibilities of the
Mayor.

9.   To include provisions for the removal from office
of a Mayor or Councilmember.

10.   To stipulate a time requirement for filling a
vacancy on the Council.

11.   To require meetings of the Mayor and Council to be
held on the first and third Mondays of the month and at
least once a month, and to allow for special meetings.

12.   To specify requirements of notice concerning
meetings.

13.   To allow for closed meetings of the Council for
